On Godde .... - A Sudden Attack of Metaphysics-

An Answer to a Post on Mystic Medusa's Blog, From Someone Who Wanted A Machine To Prove That There Is Life After Death....

At the risk of getting metaphysical, part of the human condition ie: why we’re here, is actually NOT to know if there is life after death.

It cannot be proved, one way or the other, by logic or inductive reasoning. I once sat through a brain bending seminar while a far cleverer lady than I showed how you couldn't prove it, using third order logic.

Hulme described it two and a half centuries ago - its known as "Hulme's Fork", from the days in which forks had two prongs, and it has never been broken. In a nutshell its this:

• You cannot prove that this (what we perceive as reality) is all there is and there is no more (aetheist/Empirical). 
• You cannot prove that there is more than this, and God exists. (religious/Idealist).

Anyone who says otherwise ie: Hawking, Dawkins et al, hasn't studied metaphysics.

Who knows why the Metaverse is set up this way. I like the old fallback that Godde is ineffable, but I think it has more to do with not being able to fully explore the human condition if we know for sure.

The problems that Godde has always had is that it is so very big, and can have no way of knowing what lower levels of existence are like. I think that Godde is curious about itself and wants to experience these lower levels of existence, so it build biological exploration units, or "Monkeys" as we also know ourselves (or "Meatsacks", as Bender would say), and set a tiny fragment of its consciousness into these vehicles in order to explore existence in the lower, linear planes of existence.

When this tiny fragment of consciousness has learnt everything it has set out to learn on this plane (sometimes taking many, many meatsacks to learn these lesson) it then gets reabsorbed back into the greater consciousness of Godde (what the Buddhists call Nirvana), losing all sense of its individual self, but nevertheless adding its tiny droplet of knowledge back into the greater Ocean that is the mind of Godde


I think that part of what Godde is exploring is aetheism. Its a bit of a Moebius loop to think that part of our Mission From Godde is to explore the belief that Godde does not exist..... Yep - that's right; aetheists are on A Mission From Godde - ironic hey ?

How do we behave when we do not believe that we are part of some greater whole ?... Badly, on the whole.

Smart arse academics, (Hawking, Dawkins et al) who think them selves so very clever destroying the belief in Godde in the popular media; and doing so from their comfortable middle-class ivory towers, have clearly not taken the time to explore the idea that when we take away the Opiate of the Masses we leave them with... well, opiates. ..

To numb the pain of having no hope, no future, no jobs, no education and no way of getting one; in a society that no longer feels a moral obligation to provide one. 'Cos morals are so - ya know, last century... Or the one before that. Hard to remember with so much Oxycontin in my bloodstream :)

So that's why we don't know if there is life after death - its part of Hulme's Fork - We can believe that there is life after death. We can believe that there is nothing more than the physical world of our senses. But we cannot PROVE it. And that's how Godde made us :D

OK. I got metaphysical. But wasn't it fun ?
